2023 Holiday Potluck Meeting
Hey there, Bubbie, ya say it’s late in the season and all yer plants are going to sleep? Ya say it never gets above 62 degrees, and all yer Petiolaris Sundews are rotting away? Ya say it’s so cold all your Mexican Pings are wearing ponchos, and yer tuberous Drosera refuse to come out of hiding? Ya say your Darlingtonia have all slithered away and yer huntsman’s cups all sprung leaks? Ya say yer Nepenthes only make tendrils, yer Bladderworts have all deflated, and yer Genlisea unwound? Ya say yer Sun Pitchers have all clouded over?
Well, lift yer head up high with dignity and stick-to-itivness and join us at the annual LACPS/SDCPS/SCCPE Holiday Potluck and ya show us all, ya show us all, you’ll be there! And You’ll never give up, never give up, never give up…those plants!
When is it?
Saturday, December 9th, 2023 at 13:00. Starting at 1PM and ending at ??? (though 6PM is when we get kicked out of the meeting room. Still nothing stops us from heading over to Smog City for some brewskis and continuing the party!)

What to bring
This is a PotLuck. Which means you should bring something to nosh, and enough for a few people. What should you bring, something you like! Chances are if you like it, others will, too. At least one main dish will be supplied by SCCPE, hopefully LACPS can do the same (hoping Nathan and Amy will prepare their usual delectable Turkey and Trimmings!), feel free to bring your own main dish, or side dish, or dessert.
Don’t forget we’ll be doing a gift exchange game! $20-40 value. Bring as many gifts as you want to participate with. Plant-related. No gag gifts or difficult wrapping. Participants will need to be able to unwrap quickly.
Sales and trades
There WILL be plants for sale, and may be sales opportunities, either at a club table as a club fund raiser or individually. I’ll let you know. Though expect that you will need to have plants labeled with your name and price in addition to Plant ID. Certainly if you’re looking to buy, you will be able to find some.
Get involved
We need help with setup, so arrive early if you can, and breakdown, so stay late if you can. Also, if you have any pictures from past events that you’d like to share, let me know, and maybe someone would like to volunteer to throw together a short slide show?
